In 1869, Teodoro Materón installed a rudimentary printing press. Several years later, Carvajal was established by Manuel Carvajal Valencia in 1904 at Cali as a graphics art workshop, then known as Imprenta Comercial. In 1906 it became Carvajal & Cia.
    The first stamp contract came in 1975 and many other security based products have followed, including lottery tickets, cheques, bonds, security notes and stock certificates. Non-security based work includes books, directories and business forms.
