About Site
Users come top of the list of priorities, as so many pages elsewhere are slow to load, or use aspects that spoil a visit, so hi-resolution (larger) images are in separate windows, giving the option not to open and speeding-up page loading.

Allow mouse to hover over thumbnail image and if the cursor (probably an arrow) changes shape to a hand, then click the left mouse button once and the image will appear enlarged in a new browser window. Try it here:

Close the image browser window once viewing is complete to return to where you were and continue your visit.

- Viewing   To view 'full screen' toggle by using the  key.

- Screen Resolution   Use 'True Colour 800 x 600 pixels'.  Amend "Display Properties" if viewing proves difficult.

Log of Recent Updates

August 2008
I have finally recognised that my available spare time is short!! As a result, I am not able to update this site as often as I had intended when I set it up. I therefore apologize for the lack of updates, but hope that the extensive content that is already loaded will prove of interest to visitors.

Every page has been checked for errors, with several being corrected. It is hoped that additions will be made to reflect philatelic activity since the previous major changes.

October 2006
Every page has been amended in one way or another, even if only cosmetically.

A major new mouse rollover Menu Button navigation system has been implemented throughout, enabling a far easier way of finding material, and several annoying or confusing aspects have been removed or changed following valuable feedback from users.

All pages are now A4 in width and provided that normal settings for printer margins are used it will be possible to print content without difficulty.

Every page is now accessible within three mouse clicks (often with only two clicks).

All images have been optimised to make them as small as possible for ease of loading. A few exceptions warrant being large files, but as the user has to make a conscious decision to load these images into a separate window it should not present a problem

The Stamp Printers pages used to include text data, bibliographies and imagery. The latter two headings have been hived off to their own sections to enable faster loading of every page. Navigation is simple - use the menu system under "Stamp Printers > Bibliography" or "Stamp Printers > Imagery".

Update logs prior to October 2006 have been deleted, due to the total revamp making the information irrelevant.

Statistics

1217 A4 Pages [643 web, 554 PDF] - a snapshot taken in 2007. This is steadily increasing, but is no longer being monitored.

2260 images - a snapshot taken in 2007. This is steadily increasing, but is no longer being monitored.

369,430 words - a snapshot taken in 2007. This is steadily increasing, but is no longer being monitored.

113mb file size - a snapshot taken in 2007. This is steadily increasing, but is no longer being monitored.

Page requests (see main website entry screen for current usage of site).

Distinct visitors daily This varies wildly - especially at times when updates have not been made for some time! The highest volume was one day during April 2006, when over 400 distinct users visited.

184,637 pico search engine enquiries had been made between October 2003 and a snapshot taken in August 2007. This is steadily increasing, but is no longer being monitored.
The most requested TERMS choices (aside from "the", "and" , "stamp", "stamps", "&" and "of" are (in popularity order): Postage, exhibition, first, Sprintpak, printers, printing, security, Empire, Harrison, Glenn, British, Smilers and "De La Rue".
The twenty most popular QUERY choices are (in popularity order): Sprintpak, Glenn, "bo Bofil's", Smilers, Cartor, France, Harrison, "De La Rue", "u.s postage oregon territory centennial", Frama, Canada, Smiler, Switcerland, Thematica, "Bradbury Wilkinson", "Tasmania Stamp Duty", "types of letter box", Waterlow, Vatican and "Ashton Potter USA". No, I did not put "Glenn" in as a search term.
The most common NOT FOUNDS comprise simple spelling mistakes (Brialle, Switcerland, Castels, etc) or words simply not associated with the subject matter of this site (wind, rime, "Bo Bofil's", etc).  Not one of these searches comprised "inappropriate" words (such as Viagra, sex, etc), so there is clearly a better class of visitor that uses stampprinters.info!

"Quoting one is plagiarism; quoting many is research!"
Above is the compilers favourite quote and one that he endeavours to take note of at all times. This work has been many years in the making and in the early days of recording facts and imagery it had not been intended to make what I had recorded available to anyone else. Also, certain images were provided by a "well wisher", who possibly did not own the copyright and it is no longer possible to identify these particular images.

So, any inadvertent copyright infringement of either text (unlikely) or imagery will be rectified within 24 hours of the compiler reading the complaint. An apology will be sent to the complainant by e-mail and they will be added to the list of those who have made a contribution, if they agree that the item may remain, of course. Alternatively, the offending item will be immediately removed.

It will never be the compiler's intention or desire to cause offence or to be guilty of plagiarism or copyright theft.
